A matrix of state efforts to track and follow up on welfare recipients is now available, through a joint project of APWA, the National Governors' Association, and the National Conference of State Legislatures. (June 1998)

APWA recently wrote to congressional leaders, including Sens. Pete Domenici and Frank Lautenberg of the Senate Budget Committee, to express opposition to the proposed $22 billion reduction in Medicaid and welfare-related programs in this year's budget negotiations. These critical public human service programs should not be reduced to fund tax cuts, particularly at a time of budget surplus. (6/17/98)
