The future of solid waste collection vehicles is exciting. In fact, it’s electric! Truck manufacturers are making big pushes to adopt electric waste collection trucks. Many communities are moving towards electric truck fleets. Developing a roadmap for the transition to an electric waste collection fleet is a smart way to save time and money. Shifting from fossil fuel trucks provides challenges such as ensuring adequate power supply, developing maintenance and charging infrastructure, selecting the right trucks, pilot testing, updating routing, and final equipment rollout. But electric collection trucks provide cleaner and healthier air in the communities where they operate. Electric collection trucks support local climate action goals and are quieter, reducing noise pollution. The speaker will share how agencies can save time and money by developing and executing a better zero-emissions roadmap from the beginning to avoid common scaling pitfalls and reap the benefits.
